After the accident

Well the last recital had to be cancelled after me have a slight incident involving mountains and forward rolls! http://www.northern.police.uk/news-item.htm?item_id=PR1684_2009

I was on the hill for around 4 hours and thankfully rescued by RAF 137 from Lossiemouth.
After 8 days in Raigmore – Inverness and 4 operations to sort the wound on my leg I`m finally on the mend.
The trumpet playing has only been effected by having a few weeks off to let things calm down.
All this time has lead to me looking at new repertoire choices and arrange another recital idea – so keep checking back, details will follow in the new year.

After a hectic few months it`s time to reflect and prepare for a busy summer schedule!
Our last trip down to Yorkshire recieved some excellent feed back -
Dear Grant and Matt
Saturday’s concert was a TRIUMPH! It was really magnificent and I can’t thank you enough for coming to St Mary’s here in Richmond. Every one who heard it was full of praise and delight and we all want you to return again.
Very best wishes to you both and, once again, many thanks for a superb evening.

Dear Matt and Grant,
I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed your concert at St. Mary’s Church, Richmond on 7th February.
What a wonderful, varied selection of music and a fantastic sound.
I enjoyed the whole evening but was very moved by Meg Bowles’ “Night Sun Journey”, and particularly carried away by John Maxwell-Geddes’ “Reform of Rank Bajin”!!

Thank you for braving the weather and the roads and giving us all a fantastic evening.
Good Luck,
Margaret Watson

I am delighted to see the updated website, and am very excited about having this blog! I look forward to reading some of your comments in the weeks ahead.

Remember to keep checking back here, and our Facebook group, for details of forthcoming concert appearances.

Happy Blogging !!!

I think this is the first winter that I have managed to control my chapped lips, there are loads of products on the market but I have recently tried a specialist musicians lip balm and an off the self one from tesco!

Chop saver – Cheesily tagged “for musicians with lips!” as opposed to what beaks?
The lip balm is great smells nice and has a fresh lemony citrus taste – there are two drawbacks with this stuff, the first being that it is very soft and you end up using loads so it really doesn`t last. Even putting it in the fridge doesn`t help.
The second drawback is you feel like a trumpet geek if any other musicians catch you putting it on!

In my opinion the best one is the cheap and cheerful CARMEX! it comes in a small white tub with a yellow top and lasts for ages (its quite a hard waxy balm) This has got me through the lip chapping season with no problems!

I tend to drink loads of water and I feel that cracked lips are also a sign of dehydration!

Welcome to the new look site for 2009 and the new blog which should make life easier for concert dates and our general natter and gossip!
